[Bolin can't even consider any other possibilities, especially because right now he's almost numb with grief about the whole situation. Korra was important to him, and Mako even more so. Losing both in one night—unless there was any other possible reason for the "loss," just didn't make any sense whatsoever. As far as he knew, it had to be the spirits.
